As an intern at Viasat Arizona we will strive to provide you with tasking on real programs where your work product will be contributing to the success of the program. You will be working and learning alongside experience engineers and have access to subject matter experts. As a system test engineer you will be supporting the hardware and software development of custom test systems used to support the development, characterization, troubleshooting, and production of custom products that we design such as microwave/millimeter wave power amplifier IC’s, mix signal IC’s, RF transceivers, phase arrays, sensors, RF sub-assemblies, and space payloads that may be used in government, commercial, and space applications. Depending on the phase of the project, tasking can range from developing test requirements, developing test plans/procedures, designing test hardware, designing test software, and/or supporting the testing, characterization, and troubleshooting of deliverable/production hardware. Internship Program Details: You will work onsite at a Viasat office location for the duration of your internship. Viasat embraces a flexible work environment and onsite/hybrid work is determined by individual roles and teams. Housing and relocation assistance are available to interns pending eligibility. To ensure equity across our intern population, intern compensation is pre-determined based on a variety of factors including: role, location, and final graduation date. Intern compensation is non-negotiable.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering and/or a related field
  • To be eligible for this position your final graduation date must fall between December 2026 and August 2027
  • You must be available to work 40 hours/week for the full duration of the internship program as outlined in the cohort dates below. Limited exceptions may be granted. Viasat offers two options based on semester and quarter academic calendars: Cohort 1: May 18, 2026 – August 14, 2026 Cohort 2: June 22, 2026 – September 18, 2026
  • This position requires U.S. citizenship
  • Proficiency with programming in one or more languages such as C#, Python, or C++
  • Experience with testing and/or troubleshooting electronic products
  • Experience reading schematics and understanding of electronic circuits
  • Basic digital literacy with Microsoft Office

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge in software development processes
  • Knowledge of object oriented programming
  • Knowledge of programming and controlling test equipment through SCPI commands
  • Knowledge of RF amplifiers, mixers, oscillators, and transceivers
  • Understanding of test equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzer, network analyzers, noise figure meters, and signal generators
