About The Position

As the Quantum Systems Test Manager, you will lead a team dedicated to the reliability, advancement, and scale of our critical testing infrastructure. You will oversee a fleet of test equipment while developing new innovative testing techniques to support emerging and rapidly growing quantum technologies. The full potential of quantum computing will be unlocked with a large-scale computer capable of complex, error-corrected computations. Google Quantum AI's mission is to build this computer and unlock solutions to classically intractable problems. Our roadmap is focused on advancing the capabilities of quantum computing and enabling meaningful applications. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $189,000-$274,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a specialized field (e.g., Optics, Sensors, Audio/DSP, etc.), or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in failure analysis or troubleshooting.
  • 5 years of experience with a programming language, such as Shell, Python, C++, MATLAB or similar.
  • 5 years of experience with electrical testing/fixturing, using multimeters, oscilloscopes, VNA's, or signal generators.
  • 3 years of experience managing people.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field (e.g., Optics, Sensors, Audio/DSP).
  • Experience contributing to and collaborating within a shared codebase.
  • Experience working with databases.
  • Familiarity with RF (radio frequency) or analog components and probable failure modes.
  • Familiarity with critical current and critical temperature testing.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of system test engineers.
  • Work with hardware teams to perform root cause analysis on components and subsystems.
  • Work with software and hardware teams to assure test and yield data is traceable and accessible for fast, well informed decision making.
  • Troubleshoot electrical measurements and work to develop new scalable tests for our Quantum systems.
  • Define, specify, communicate, and maintain mechanical, electrical, and thermal test fixturing for component, sub-assembly, and system testing.
