Operate sewing machine to join, gather, hem, reinforce, or decorate articles. Lay out, fit and heat weld fabric pieces together. Manually measure and cut fabric on the floor. Visually examine and/or feel surface of vinyl or products to detect defects, such as mismatched color, size, squareness and cosmetic looks, accuracy of tarp products. Tarp Fabrication I – Entry Level Responsibilities: Displays proficiency in manual nonpowered hand tools and measuring instruments such as measuring tape. Line Fabric up in a machine Align edges of vinyl and guide them into position under the electrode. Start the machine and depress buttons to lower the electrode that heats and seal edges of materials Position the vinyl strip over article preparatory to heat sealing article Obtain and sort product Wrap protective material around the product Pack special arrangements or selection of product Inspect materials, products, and containers at each step of the packaging process. Read production schedules, customer orders, work orders, shipping orders, or requisition orders to determine the items to be moved, gathered, or distributed. Sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code Fill requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, tools, or other stock items and distribute items to production workers or assembly line. Mark materials with identifying information, prepare parcels for mailing, and maintain inventory records. Shows ability to accurately count items, understand unit of measures. Must have hand tool competency, ability to complete 1 of the following: strip cutting, fabric welding, bar sealing, inspection, layout and marking of tarps.
