About The Position

This position is primarily responsible for supporting the indirect tax compliance and business license function for our North American operations. The starting salary for this role is $65K; commensurate with experience. What You’ll Do: Assist with the preparation and filing of sales, use, rental, and excise tax returns for the Hertz Corporation and its affiliates. Compile and summarize data necessary for the completion of all returns. Initiate payment requests and verify that payments are timely. Oversee the business license, registration, and permit process, including miscellaneous state, local and municipal permits, for The Hertz Corporation and its US subsidiaries. Coordinate with co-sourcing partners as well as internal stakeholders to secure and validate information necessary to file applications and renewals. Keep the business license and permit compliance calendar up to date and make sure all renewals are submitted correctly and on time. Respond to information requests, inquiries, and questions from both external and internal sources. Prepare general ledger account reconciliations and account analysis in accordance with company accounting standards. Prepare monthly journal entries. Keep up to date with tax rate changes and make sure all internal software systems reflect the latest rates. Address tax bills/renewals/other correspondence in timely matter. Assist with other projects as needed. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance; advanced degree preferred
  • 2-5 years of experience, either in-house or in a public accounting/law firm setting
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with emphasis in Excel
  • Familiar with tax-technical research and writing preferred
  • Strong communication skills, including ability to articulate recommendations in a concise manner
