Additional endorsement in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education preferred, or willingness to pursue endorsement or equivalent coursework. K-3 teachers must provide documentation of evidence-based literacy training, Read Act Designation, per CDE requirements.

Responsibilities

Plan and implement standards-based units in literacy, math, science and social studies.
Develop and use rubrics to assess student work.
Create and administer formative assessments to monitor student learning and adjust instruction throughout the teaching and learning cycle.
Arrange and facilitate well-planned fieldwork to support expeditions.
Employ a range of effective instructional practices (active pedagogy) to give students the support they need to complete projects and meet standards.
Develop lesson plans that ensure that instruction is paced well, encourages all students to think, engages all students in productive work throughout the class period, and ensures smooth classroom management.
Use flexible groups and ongoing assessment to confer with students and provide differentiated instruction.
Work with students to create assessment criteria connected to standards and help them understand, reflect on, and take responsibility for their learning.
Implement school wide instructional practices and strategies obtained through professional development opportunities.
Design lesson plans that both teach writing and support understanding of content in all subject areas.

Develop and implement detailed plans for crew in keeping with school priorities and structures.
Choose instructional practices, compelling topics, and projects that promote character development.
Promote and fully participate positively in the staff culture of the school.
