About The Position

Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills necessary for an entry-level position. Develop long- and short-range plans for the instructional program. Evaluate program effectiveness via student outcomes; gather and analyze statistics on course completion and outcomes of certification exams, as appropriate. Participate in the campus and district staff development program and in the required number of hours of industry style training as per requirements. Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of district’s curriculum program and adhere to policies, procedures, and expectations, and show evidence of preparation in curriculum management system as required by district policy. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles. Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations. Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect accommodation for individual needs of students assigned. Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEPs). Cooperate with other members of staff for planning and implementing instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements. Implement technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process. Assist students in analyzing and improving study methods and habits. Consistently assess student achievement through formal and informal testing and use results to plan instructional activities. Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned, and sponsor outside activities as approved by the campus principal. Present positive role model for students. Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students. Manage student behavior and administer discipline according to board policies, administrative regulations, and IEPs. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers. Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members. Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly. Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible. Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers. Compile and maintain all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents as required. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on committees as required. Articulate the district’s mission and goals in areas of assigned responsibilities to the community and solicit its support in realizing the mission. Demonstrate awareness of district/community needs by maintaining and leading subject-matter advisory committee. Initiate activities to meet identified industry needs. Demonstrate the use of appropriate and effective techniques to enhance community and parent involvement in the local school system.

Requirements

  • Valid Texas teaching certificate: Agricultural, Food, and Natural Resources: Grades 6-12, or Technology Education: Grades 6-12, or Secondary Industrial Arts: Grades 6-12, or Secondary Industrial Technology: Grades 6-12 with approved appropriate work experience, or Trade & Industrial: Grades 6-12 with approved appropriate work experience OR may include a combination of: Professional work experience; Formal training and education; Relevant industry licensure, certification, or registration; and/or Any combination of work experience, training and education, or industry credentialed related to the subject matter he/she will be teaching
  • Knowledge of subjects assigned
  • General knowledge of design and delivery issues related to alignment for best results in student achievement
  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written)
