What We’re Looking For: Are you a passionate Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing ready to empower students and schools? Here’s what you’ll need to join our team: Education: A bachelor’s degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a closely related field is required. A master’s degree in Education for Students with Hearing Impairments or a similar area is preferred but not required. Certification: A valid Texas Educator Certification in Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) is required. Additional certifications in related areas, such as Auditory-Verbal Therapy, are a plus but not mandatory. Specialized Knowledge: Familiarity with special education laws, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), and understanding of the Individualized Education Program (IEP) process are essential. Language Proficiency: Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) is required. Bilingual skills in additional languages are preferred but not mandatory. Additional Requirements: CPR certification is preferred. Your Role: As a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing , you will play a crucial role in empowering students who are deaf or hard of hearing to achieve academic success, foster independence, and gain equitable access to their educational environment. Your expertise will help students overcome barriers, fostering growth and success in their educational and personal journeys.
