About this job: This position provides full-time, short-term instructional teaching across multiple schools serving students in ECE through 12th grade. The teacher rotates between schools to provide short-term to long-term coverage in classrooms experiencing staffing vacancies, absences, or other disruptions. The role helps ensure students experience consistent, high-quality instruction across the network. The ELA-S Teacher is responsible for providing high-quality, differentiated instruction to students whose primary language is Spanish. The role focuses on fostering English language acquisition while supporting academic achievement across subjects in an inclusive and supportive learning environment. This position combines language instruction with core subject teaching, helping students to develop both language skills and content knowledge needed for success in school and beyond. Salaries for the 2026–2027 school year are typically finalized and released mid-summer, with an effective date of August 1. Requirements

Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field required. A Master's Degree is only required for Concurrent Enrollment positions.
Have a valid Colorado Department of Education (CDE) teaching license. Click here for additional information regarding specific requirements and qualifications for the various subject areas ( DPS does accept a CDE Application Receipt for 90 days .)
ELA-S (English Language Acquisition - Spanish) ONLY Teaching in both Spanish and English positions, candidates are required to take the Spanish language proficiency (SLP) exam, proctored by Berlitz Testing. Click here for more information. Additionally, if a teacher has taken, or chooses to take, the Praxis II - Spanish: World Language 5195 exam, it will also work at DPS as an appropriate SLP exam, as long as the candidate scores 163 or higher on the Praxis II (#5195) exam.
Must be Bilingual in Spanish and English, required.

Responsibilities

Counsels students to encourage and support student achievement.
Monitors, supervises, coordinates, and enforces rule of conduct and behavior of assigned students and reinforces positive student behaviors in accordance with school and District policy.
Observes, evaluates, reports, and records student performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
Prepares lesson plans and materials according to District approved curriculum guidelines.
Adapts teaching methods and instructional materials to meet varying needs and learning styles.
Instructs students individually and in groups using various teaching methods (e.g., lectures, technology, discussions).
Establishes and communicates clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects.
Prepares, administers, assigns, and grades tests and assignments to evaluate student progress, reporting grades using District software.
Prepares student, attendance, and activity reports as required by administrators.
Communicates with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve student behavior and academic problems.
May participate in extra-duty activities such as coaching, tutoring, or summer programs, as outlined in the Teachers’ Collective Bargaining Agreement and in accordance with Department of Labor regulations.
