About The Position

Portledge School seeks to hire a dynamic part-time after-school club Teaching Assistant to help supervise, engage and care for students ranging from Pre-Kindergarten to Fifth Grade. The After 3:00 Club is designed to serve families who require supervision for their children beyond the normal school hours. This position is hourly, part-time and would report directly to the Interim Auxiliary Programs Director.

Requirements

• Strong communication skills with both children and adults
• Classroom/student management skills
• Ability to create and implement a schedule of activities
• Ability to collaborate with colleagues and student families
• Ability to problem solve and make quick decisions
• Belief in the value of all types of diversity within a school but especially committed to social justice and equity

Nice To Haves

• Experience in an educational setting preferred
• Experience working with elementary-aged children preferred
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred

Responsibilities

• Supervise and care for participating students from 3:00 pm - 5:30 pm on varying days Monday - Friday, with work hours of 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm
• Design and implement a schedule of activities each day including outdoor play, structured and unstructured play activities, snack, and homework support
• Maintain open and regular communication with parents
• Document and organize student arrivals and departures
