About The Position

Join Our AoPS Academy as a Math Teaching Assistant! Are you enthusiastic about supporting student learning and helping create an engaging, collaborative classroom environment? We have the perfect opportunity for you! The Teaching Assistant will: Support Instruction: Assist instructors with company-created curriculum and materials, helping advanced students grasp complex concepts. Student Support: Work one-on-one with students during class activities and provide additional help when needed. Classroom Management: Help maintain an organized learning environment and assist in managing up to 16 students. Assignment Support: Assist with grading and providing constructive feedback on student work. Build Relationships : Connect with students and staff members to encourage their learning journey and academic growth. Foster Learning: Help create an environment that promotes critical thinking and academic curiosity.

Requirements

  • Must be 16 years old or older
  • Possess strong math skills with the ability to help students navigate advanced concepts
  • Exceptional written and spoken communication
  • Positive and encouraging attitude that helps students feel comfortable asking questions
  • Detail-oriented and organized
  • Candidates must be located in San Mateo, CA or the greater area and must be able to commute to our campus.
  • This position requires a minimum initial commitment of about 3 hours per week for each assigned class.
  • Each course meets once per week for 1 hour 45 minutes.
  • In order to be considered for this position you must be legally authorized to work in the US. We are unable to offer sponsorship, including STEM-OPT and H-1B.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with/interest in working with younger students strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with the AoPS curriculum is not required, but a plus
