About The Position

Join our dynamic team at Star Lab, where we deliver a world-class elementary education using best teaching practices and positive relationships. As a teaching assistant you will assist with all aspects of student work in the classroom under a teacher’s supervision. You will demonstrate lessons to students both individually and in groups, offer guidance as needed to students during independent practice, and help students with challenges or problems they are experiencing. Key Responsibilities Provide assistance to students during work time as directed by classroom teacher. Collaborate with teacher to determine most effective approach for different children. Receive training in the Science of Reading and teach a small reading group. Provide supervision during outdoor activities and excursions. Plan and teach specials (music, art, science) with hands-on lessons that connect to the curriculum. Essential Functions Provide just the right amount of support to help a student become more independent in the long term. Help motivate students to persevere through difficulty. Energetic approach allows you to engage with students during both learning and play. Support diverse family backgrounds with a culturally rich perspective.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or the equivalent required, with a passion for both learning and teaching.
  • At least one year of experience managing groups of children in a school, camp, or childcare setting.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken)
