The Team Lead – Shipping is responsible for overseeing daily outbound fulfillment operations, ensuring orders are picked, packed, documented, and shipped accurately and on time. This role combines hands-on execution with frontline leadership to support team productivity, maintain quality standards, and ensure smooth coordination with carriers and internal stakeholders.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of warehouse, fulfillment, or shipping experience preferred
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and accuracy in order fulfillment
  • Ability to lift up to 70 lbs and stand for extended periods in a warehouse environment
  • Basic computer proficiency and comfort working within operational systems
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience leading, training, or mentoring team members is an asset
  • Familiarity with shipping systems, carrier portals, and ERP/WMS platforms preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and support shipping associates in daily fulfillment activities
  • Assign tasks, monitor throughput, and ensure shipping deadlines and schedules are met
  • Train new team members on shipping procedures, systems, and safety requirements
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shipping area aligned with warehouse standards
  • Escalate shipment delays, staffing concerns, or operational risks to the Warehouse Manager
  • Oversee picking, packing, and staging of outbound orders based on sales orders and schedules
  • Verify item accuracy, quantities, serial numbers, and required documentation prior to shipment
  • Ensure correct generation of shipping labels, packing slips, and Bills of Lading (BOLs)
  • Coordinate daily carrier pickups (e.g., UPS, FedEx, freight carriers) and resolve routine carrier issues
  • Confirm proper packaging and labeling to prevent damage during transit
  • Ensure shipment status updates are accurately recorded in ERP/WMS systems
  • Monitor order accuracy, on-time shipment metrics, and documentation quality
  • Investigate and resolve basic shipping discrepancies or delivery issues
  • Support root-cause analysis and corrective actions related to shipping errors or damages
  • Identify process improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and throughput
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures, safety standards, and quality expectations
