About The Position

The purpose of this position is to provide contract electronics support to the Systems Integration & Instrumentation Section, Code 5524, at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory, in Washington, DC. The position requires knowledge principles and techniques related to electrical engineering, electronic test equipment, and wireless networking. Specifically, the candidate supports government civilian engineers in the development of techniques to aid the progression of advanced communication and networking technology to meet Navy and DoD requirements. The candidate will support civilian staff engineers in the design, building, and testing of analog and digital electronics and will work with devices, components and integrated circuits used in the design of digital communication systems. The candidate will participate in field tests to test concepts, devices, and systems as they pertain to communications links. The candidate will utilize knowledge of the physical processes of communications links, along with existing software tools to analyze link performance. Work Schedule: 8 hours, on site during peak hours unless otherwise approved. Essential Responsibilities: Candidate will be developing and applying new concepts, principles, and techniques in testing technology. Day to Day still TBD. Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands: Work environment is desk/computer oriented with no heavy lifting or strong mental demands present.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of network and wireless communications technology and protocols.
  • Knowledge of radio frequency systems, wireless propagation, and wireless communications systems theory and implementations.
  • Knowledge of analog, digital and RF electronics, and integrated circuits.
  • Clearance Required: Secret
  • Minimum Education: BS
  • Minimum Years of Experience: 0-2
