THE OPPORTUNITY Striking Distance Studios is looking for a Technical Designer to work in a cooperative, cross-disciplinary team environment. This role will be onsite at Striking Distance Studios in San Ramon, CA!

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3+ years AAA design.
  • A strong understanding of design principles and combat design.
  • Professional experience working in UE4 / UE5
  • Coding experience in Unreal Engine C++
  • Very Experienced with Scripting languages, and visual scripting languages. (Blueprint knowledge preferred)
  • A passion and hunger to make the best games.

Responsibilities

  • Design, document, and tune game mechanics, controls, and systems.
  • Work with Leads, Systems Designers, Animators and Engineers to create compelling gameplay mechanics.
  • Collaborate with team to ensure highest level of quality and to guarantee visibility and alignment
  • Fully document design for Engineers, Prop Artists, and Animators.
  • Creatively solve system conflicts and troubleshoot technical limitations
  • Balance and tune gameplay to ensure the highest level of player engagement.
  • Communicate with Production to ensure all deadlines are met
  • Work with Design to create tools/workflow enhancements that can benefit the team as a whole through production.
  • Work with all teams to prototype and prove out the viability of content, whether it be tools or gameplay mechanics.
