About The Position

The University of Nevada, Reno, School of Music is looking for a dynamic individual to serve as the Technical Director of Music Halls. The Technical Director manages the Nightingale Concert Hall and the Harlan O. & Barbara R. Hall Recital Hall for the School. This individual shall collaborate with faculty, the University community and the Reno/Sparks community at large. The position provides leadership, event planning, scheduling, management and maintenance of equipment and materials, and compliance with safety standards. This individual shall oversee the technology within the halls and shall recommend and supervise student technical staff hired in support of events and productions. The person hired for this position will serve as the main liaison for all events within the halls. This individual will serve the School’s mission to maintain professional management of the performance spaces in order to uphold the highest standards of events presented on our campus for our students, faculty, and community at large.

Requirements

  • High School Degree and three years of related work experience; OR Bachelor’s Degree and two years of related work experience; OR Master’s Degree and one year of related work experience
  • Related Experience: Experience in musical and/or theatrical productions as a member or leader of a crew.
  • The ability to lift or move heavy objects (for example: to roll a grand piano)

  • Bachelors degree in a related discipline
  • Experience in supervising others
  • Knowledge of lighting and sound technology used in live production
  • Excellent administrative skills, such as scheduling, time-management, policy and procedure making, budgeting relating to equipment and maintenance needs
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Evidence of attention to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Strong management skills
  • The ability to obtain OSHA 30 certification, preferably within 30-60 days of hire.

Responsibilities
