Novares is looking for its Manufacturing - Engineering department his/her future Technical Engineering Manager (1st Shift M-F) (M/F), located in GRAND RAPIDS GR-PL. Job Overview Work schedule: 1st shift Job location: Onsite – Grand Rapids, MI Role: The Technical Engineering Manager leads the engineering team to optimize production processes, improve efficiency, and reduce costs through lean manufacturing principles. Th Technical Engineering Manager also leads the maintenance team ensure all facility and equipment upkeep, focusing on preventing downtime through strategic preventive/predictive maintenance, managing budgets, overseeing repair/installation projects, ensuring safety compliance, and developing/guiding a team of technicians to maintain efficient, reliable, and safe production operations. Key responsibilities include overseeing equipment upgrades, plant layout, quality control, budget management, building strong teams and implementing safety standards. They bridge design and production to ensure high-quality, cost-effective manufacturing.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Experience: Generally 5–10+ years of experience in manufacturing, with several years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks), PLCs, and ERP systems.
  • Leadership & Communication: Strong capability to lead teams, solve complex problems, and communicate with upper management.

Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Mentoring, managing, and training manufacturing engineers and skilled trades technicians such as maintenance and tool repair to ensure professional growth and team success.
  • Process Improvement: Utilizing lean manufacturing principles (e.g., Kaizen, Six Sigma) to reduce waste, increase efficiency, and improve product quality.
  • Capital Projects & Equipment: Planning and executing capital investments, equipment selection, and installation of new tools or production lines.
  • Technical Expertise: Defining manufacturing methods, standard work, tooling requirements, and material flow.
  • Budgeting & Strategy: Developing and managing department budgets and long-term manufacturing strategies.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensuring all manufacturing processes comply with EH&S (Environment, Health, and Safety) regulations.
  • Collaboration: Working with product design, quality, and production teams to launch new products and resolve quality issues
