About The Position

POSITION SUMMARY: This position will proactively and strategically attract new clients and work to retain current clients while visiting the rigs. This position will help drive cohesive effort to ensure that the Rotary Steerable Tool runs properly and effectively at every job, provide support for the Operator and directional Company on sites that the D-Tech tools are actively on. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES: The incumbent will be accountable for the following functions and responsibilities: Liaise with the client and provide instructions to the customers on site. Build strong relationships by working closely with them to become a trusted advisor to their processes to measure and improve performance. Must attempt to sell to field customers and receive confirmation on equipment utilization. Perform pre-job hydraulics verification visually, which entails checking that the drill bit has the correct number and size of nozzles per the BHA Report, bit spec sheet and D-Tech Hydraulics calculator spreadsheet and/or that the RST tool has the correct size flow restrictor installed and the bit has the correct number and size of nozzles as per the D-Tech Hydraulics calculator spreadsheet for the job. Pre-job hydraulics verification per the proposed BHA report should be conducted as soon as they arrive at the location so that there is ample time to make changes should they be required. These verifications are visual checks and verifications per the BHA/Motor/Bit record of what is available on location. Add language that makes it clear the Technical Field Representative performs these duties via a visual inspection and through reports but there is no physical handling of the tool. Perform pre-job BHA checks to verify BHA component lengths, ID’s and OD’s, from Directional Driller’s BHA report. BHA reports must be sent to Houston or loaded into Drakewell prior to picking up BHA. Train the Directional Driller’s on location on tool functionality and how to utilize the most efficient steering modes and properly operate the D-Tech tool, while providing advice and suggestions on downlink commands. Teaches the directional team on location how to download and setup the D-Tech software on location, providing operational support on the assigned rigs. Provide technical support and guidance to achieve the highest levels of drilling optimization regarding the following: BHA design bit selection and hydraulics optimization drilling parameters and optimization shock and vibe mitigation proper tool operation. Responsible for teaching the directional team how to properly operate the tools and look for early detection of drilling hazards and performing the appropriate warning procedures to prevent failures. Provide oversight in and teach how to filter false alarms while monitoring drilling parameters and well trajectory, checking and ensuring correct well plan is being used. Work closely and maintain constant communication with the Company man, directional drillers, remote drilling advisors, operations coordinator, and operations manager to ensure quality, reliability, and consistency of data being transmitted, to gain knowledge of well conditions, share information and report daily activities. Collect relevant information pertinent to the job. This includes but is not limited to: BHA Configurations Directional Motor Reports Directional Rotary Steerable Reports Bit Information EDR Exports Daily Mud Reports Current Hydraulic Configurations Final signed job ticket Ensure daily reports of rigs monitored, issues encountered, and rig statuses are submitted accurately and in a timely manner. Document operational failures and any possible issues while on duty into Drakewell report and submit lessons learned to supervisor. Work up to 12-hours for any day on location. Rig operations may dictate additional hours be worked to support the onsite operation of the D-Tech tool. I suggest maybe changing the reference to “shift” as that word is typically associated with hourly employees. Maintain regulatory documentation as required, must hold industry related certifications. Must know, understand, and comply with all industry, customer and Company safety rules, Company policies, and the operating and technical procedures of the D-Tech tools to have the ultimate responsibility to advise on the safe execution of D-Tech field services on site. Perform any other duties and activities as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of relevant experience or degree in engineering preferred.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in field operations (Directional Drilling, M/LWD, RSS)
  • Knowledge of down hole tools, directional drilling operations, and well planning.
  • Ability to maintain the highest standard of personal conduct in performing all duties and the ability to work well with all levels of employees or customers while being service oriented and having a friendly demeanor.
  • The ability to learn, to process thoughts and apply knowledge, to analyze and reason, and to evaluate and make appropriate decisions to achieve business goals and solve problems with a certain degree of creativity and latitude. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and customers. Ability to speak, read, and write in the English Language fluently. Have good communication skills, both verbal and written, especially in business writing.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks and timelines in a fluid environment, bearing high levels of responsibility and accountability while keeping the best interests of the business in sight. An attention to detail, ability to deliver quality reports on jobs, able to prioritize, and work independently with little supervision or as a team.
  • Must have Safeland and H2S certifications.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Excel is required. Must know how to operate basic office equipment, such as a copier/printer/scanning machine. Familiar with BHA analysis software.
  • Flexibility to adjust to work routines, as required, to meet the needs of the Company.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to perform hydraulics, torque and drag analysis is preferred.
  • Familiarity with BHA analysis software is preferred.
  • Able to develop and perform trend analysis on data sets is preferred.
