About The Position

The opportunity: The Technical Producer (US Services) supports the AV and production service delivery for an inspiring array of live in-person, virtual, hybrid corporate meetings and events at Sun Life. A creative solutions expert, the producer guides and influences business partners on the design, strategy and service selection for events that utilize various virtual platforms both internal conference centers as well as external venues around the world. Using astute production and technical expertise, the producer ensures the event production services are delivered at a high-quality standard and professional caliber. The Technical Producer (US Services) leads both high-profile large-budget events for our most senior executives with high expectations as well as in office and virtual events of varying sizes and complexity The producer thrives in high-pressure circumstances and can adapt to last minute requests and changes with superb customer service skills. The producer is experienced in hands-on technical event delivery (audio, video, streaming, lighting, staging, and other technical service operation) as well as assigning services, resource scheduling, sourcing suppliers and vendors and steering business partners on the most effective solutions to deliver program requirements. A robust understanding and experience in in-person, virtual and hybrid production coordination from a technical perspective is critical to this role. The Producer leads and contributes to departmental practices, systems and training programs, improving the working processes and skills of the entire technical services team. The Producer leads the adoption of new technical equipment and maintenance processes and collaboratively supporting team members as required. This in-office role is based at our Wellesley, MA office location, onsite to support events and collaborate with team members. The incumbent also supports activities at other US offices and offsite venues. The producer reports to the Director, Event Technology & Broadcast Experience (People Manager) as well as receives support and direction from the Senior Manager, Production Services and Senior Manager, Broadcast Services (Practice Managers). The producer works closely with members of the technician team, as well as the Producing, Multimedia and Operations teams in the delivery of our overall department initiatives.

Requirements

  • You have 10+ years of advanced technical expertise in an event environment, production managing and/or producing exceptional experiences for online and in-person corporate audiences
  • You’re a well-accomplished event technician with highly honed skills and an inspiring track record of troubleshooting under pressure, knowledgeable with a wide range of media, platforms and venues, regularly working in close collaboration with event planning, and multimedia teams
  • You’ve got experience leading partners, suppliers and teams to deliver high quality work
  • You have excellent customer service and communication skills and can put partners, executives and colleagues at ease in high-pressure situations
  • You regularly show initiative and drive, as a self-starter you’re confident in your abilities and decision-making. You have an excellent track record in fast paced, deadline driven, high-volume and live production environments
  • You have an exceptional attention to detail, with advanced production management, show flow, schedule, content and presentation experience
  • You have strong digital asset management experience, designing and creating digital files and preparing video content to leverage LED screen stage designs and other technology for top caliber brand environments
  • You have a passion for developing and executing creative and innovative experiences, with your finger on the pulse of the latest trends and techniques
  • You can see the big picture, and you’re often one step ahead of your partners and team members seeing solutions as issues emerge
  • You have deep knowledge of industry-related equipment, systems and terminology, and advanced technological abilities. This may include expert knowledge of AV and Broadcast systems such as video conference hardware & software endpoints, hardware & software video switchers (Newtek Tricasters, Blackmagic ATEMs, Wirecast, Vmix), Virtual Event Platforms, as well as expertise in the MS Office Suite, Adobe creative Suite. Demonstratable intuitiveness and ability to adapt and learn a wide range of production systems, equipment platforms and integrations as technology evolves
  • You build strong business relationships with stakeholders, vendors, staff, and team members; you’ve got a strong ability to negotiate and resolve issues smoothly and effectively
  • You’re adaptable, resilient, adjusts quickly, maintains effectiveness throughout periods of change, exhibiting tolerance for ambiguity and the ability to lead the team through change and you maintain your effectiveness throughout periods of change and be comfortable with ambiguity
  • Must possess valid Driver’s license and have access to a vehicle

Responsibilities

  • Leading and supporting business partners and event team members to deliver innovative production solutions that drive business results through engaging presentations and experiences in both internal and external conference centers
  • Leads the hands-on planning and execution of events, including online and/or on-site event delivery, directing internal and external teams and talent to ensure the seamless execution of the event agenda. This includes hands-on production management, budget management, A/V vendor engagement, show calling and technical service delivery supervising all production services vendors/suppliers according to Sun Life guidelines, including preferred AV services vendors, venues with in-house AV services and virtual event platform integrations for hybrid events
  • Utilization of advanced department systems and organizational practices, documenting KPIs and recommending efficiencies and opportunities for the department
  • Contribution to the evolution of the venue and virtual service operations, Research, recommendation and processes to learn new equipment, systems and platforms
  • Oversite of assigned venue AV system operations, managing systems and completing tasks for ongoing maintenance checks, break-fix responses, and completing regular, equipment and inventory resourcing to department standards
  • Technical operation of virtual event platforms, broadcast and video equipment and integrations, multi-channel systems and video editing capabilities, as well as the ability to learn new equipment, systems and platforms
  • Production management through department systems, invoicing, expense and time tracking, and reporting on business savings. Obtaining approvals and forecasting costs for events. Ensuring production financial administration including processing payment requests, purchase orders, chargebacks and reconciliation and reporting for all event related costs is properly completed and review work by other team members
  • Providing technical services to support other department events in office and/or virtually as required
  • Adhering to company policies and industry best practices for the production processes, pre, during and post-events
