Technical Program Manager II, Data Center Network Infrastructure Construction
About The Position

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers. In this role, you will leverage your experience and technical expertise to lead projects with numerous cross-functional teams. You will plan requirements with internal customers and external partners to usher projects through the entire project life cycle (PLC). This includes working with customers to develop project scopes, managing project schedules, identifying risks, and clearly communicating goals to project stakeholders. Your project teams can span offices, time zones, and hemispheres, and it’s your job to keep all the stakeholders coordinated and informed on the project’s progress and schedule. Using your extensive technical and leadership skills, you will manage projects of various size and scope, identifying future opportunities, improving processes, and driving the technical directions of your programs. You will have experience managing technical projects in a changing industry, being able to tolerate ambiguity and demonstrate problem-solving leadership with limited oversight. The Data Center team designs and operates some of the most sophisticated electrical and HVAC systems in the world. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 years of experience in program management.
- Experience managing vendor relationships along with facility electrical, mechanical systems and design-build processes.
Nice To Haves
- Certifications in RCDD, PMP, or similar industry fields.
- 5 years of experience managing vendor relationships and understanding of standard practices in the design and construction industry.
- 5 years of experience in telecommunications, low-voltage and fiber-optics construction management.
- Experience working in data centers or similar mission-critical environments with formal change control processes.
- Experience in requirements gathering, resource organization, task prioritization, scheduling, and achieving objectives on schedule and within budget.
- Experience with data infrastructure (e.g., copper, fiber optic systems, and low voltage telecommunications/security) in corporate real estate or data center environments.
Responsibilities
- Support cross-functional partner teams and site-based execution teams through Subject Matter Expert (SME) technical guidance, and serve as a metro liaison for the program management team.
- Partner with internal and external teams, develop, and socialize processes and procedures to enable the team to operate efficiently with consistent results.
- Be responsible for gathering internal requirements and delivering solutions that satisfy customers' needs.
- Resolve critical issues within the organization while maintaining adherence to project timelines and costs.
