About The Position

We're looking for a Technical Program Manager to own delivery and customer experience of Alarm.com's video services. This role sits within the Product & Program Management team and is responsible for driving programs spanning real-time video delivery, cloud infrastructure modernization, video pipeline architecture (encoding, storage, delivery), and firmware update operations for our camera ecosystem. This is a high-impact, technically deep role — you'll partner directly with embedded firmware engineers, cloud platform teams, and product managers to ensure the infrastructure underpinning Alarm.com's entire video experience is reliable, performant, and continuously improving.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in technical program management, engineering management, or a senior technical IC role shipping infrastructure or media products at scale
  • Deep familiarity with video/media technology: streaming protocols (e.g. WebRTC, HLS, RTSP), video and audio codecs, or media pipelines
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure: container orchestration, CI/CD, microservices architecture, load balancing
  • Ability to read and discuss code, architecture diagrams, and system designs with engineers — you don't need to write production code, but you need to understand it
  • Track record of managing concurrent programs with competing priorities and cross-functional dependencies
  • Strong written and verbal communication — you'll present to engineering leadership and translate infrastructure complexity into plain language

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in IoT, security/surveillance, or connected device ecosystems
  • Familiarity with media server frameworks or real-time media processing
  • Background in SRE, DevOps, or platform engineering before moving to program management
  • Experience with Jira portfolio management at scale

Responsibilities

  • Drive end-to-end execution of video streaming and infrastructure programs from concept through launch, including cross-team dependency management, risk mitigation, and stakeholder communication
  • Own the streaming technology roadmap: connection protocols, proxy infrastructure, adaptive bitrate streaming, and codec modernization
  • Coordinate and drive delivery of cloud infrastructure migration programs — engineering owns the technical implementation, you own the schedule, dependencies, and cross-team alignment
  • Monitor and manage firmware update systems for cameras, ensuring updates roll out safely and on schedule across the device fleet
  • Track system health metrics for customer-impacting services and drive resolution when metrics degrade
  • Coordinate across firmware, backend, frontend, QA, and DevOps teams — many of these programs span 4+ engineering teams
  • Establish and maintain program health metrics, escalation paths, and delivery cadences across a portfolio of concurrent programs
  • Partner with product managers to translate technical infrastructure investments into business outcomes and prioritization decisions
  • Other duties as assigned

Benefits

  • The package includes medical plans with company subsidies, a Health Savings Account (HSA) with a company contribution, and a 401(k) with an employer match.
