Introduction to the Team This role sits in the Technology group, within the Checkout organization, which owns the end‑to-end checkout experience across Expedia Group’s consumer brands, including Expedia, Hotels.com, and Vrbo. The team is responsible for delivering a resilient, multi-tenant, high‑converting Modern Checkout platform, with goals that include driving conversion uplift and revenue growth, converging traffic from Classic platforms into one Modern Checkout platform and launching innovative AI experiences across our stack. As a Technical Program Manager III in Checkout, you will own end‑to-end delivery of medium‑to-complex, cross-team programs, designing visibility mechanisms, managing dependencies and risk, and enabling predictable, high‑quality outcomes across multiple services and functional areas.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; or equivalent related professional experience
  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience managing complex, cross-team technical programs
  • Proven ability to coordinate program deliverables spanning multiple domains or organizational boundaries
  • Strong technical acumen and experience managing programs involving software engineering, API design, or data modeling
  • Demonstrated success in delivering results in fast-paced, matrixed environments.

Responsibilities

  • Drive cross-functional program execution, ensuring alignment with business goals and successful delivery of complex technical initiatives, from inception to launch and post launch stabilization
  • Build and maintain delivery roadmaps with clear outcomes, milestones, critical path, dependencies, risks, and success metrics, ensuring teams understand how their work maps to traveler and business impact
  • Lead program planning, prioritization, and resource allocation across multiple teams and domains to achieve organizational objectives
  • Develop and implement program management best practices, frameworks, and tools to improve efficiency, transparency, and outcomes
  • Identify and mitigate risks, dependencies, and issues by establishing clear communication channels and escalation paths
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, and business stakeholders to define measurable objectives, track progress, and deliver results at scale
  • Safely integrate and operate AI/ML enabled solutions that improve outcomes, demonstrating familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and applying AI/ML concepts to real world products
  • Operate with technical depth and systems thinking - are technically conversant with modern distributed systems, APIs, and event‑driven architectures; can anticipate upstream/downstream impacts and connect technical decisions back to program and business outcomes
  • Synthesize complex technical and program information into concise, audience‑appropriate communications – ranging from Jira and Confluence updates to executive‑level summaries and readouts
  • Participate in the software development lifecycle and influence Agile engineering practices to be used
