Position Summary The Technical Program Manager III (TPM III) will focus on planning and managing deliverables for various new and sustaining projects. They will interface with extended MFG teams, Product Development team, Product Marketing, Release Management, Global Services, and external Suppliers to ensure success in managing a variety of projects. A TPM III also brings business acumen and an adaptable skill set to successfully manage across a wide range of product development programs and high-risk product initiatives. A TPM III is responsible for the development of a project plan and for monitoring the execution of the project per scope, schedule, and budget. They can manage multiple simultaneous projects that are complex or high-risk and is able to develop recovery strategies for projects that stray from their plan. The unique benefit provided by this role is the reduction of risk through better analysis, decision making, planning, and monitoring of the project or program. They are also capable of both managing the project and directing the team when necessary. A Technical Program Manager III is an experienced leader who can bring thought leadership and technical acumen to improve the processes, toolsets, and the operations of MFG.

Requirements

  • Experienced Program Manager in an electronics environment
  • Experience in dealing with electronic contract manufacturers and fabrication suppliers (PCB, Metal, Plastics)
  • Good presentation, negotiation, and conflict management skills
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Must be able to manage projects that include virtual or multiple geography sites
  • Experience with resolving supplier and factory quality issues
  • Ability to work on several projects simultaneously
  • Experience with SharePoint, Teams, Confluence, Smartsheets, Jira, Lucidchart, and Zoom.
  • Proficient in MS Project Professional, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • BS/BA degree in a computer related field or equivalent industry experience (EE or ME degree preferred)
  • Able to apply critical thinking techniques to analyze problems, develop solutions, build resource forecasts, or manage risk.
  • Ability to use either Waterfall or Agile methods to manage projects which may comprise both software and hardware.
  • Ability to lead the gathering of product requirements and project scope across a multi-function, geo-located team and optimize them against schedule and budget constraints.
  • Ability to lead through influence to drive forward both the team and program.
  • Ability to manage and facilitate team meetings and initiatives to effectively develop plans and achieve goals.
  • Ability to work cross functionally on large, complex technical challenges and programs with a high level of ambiguity

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical programs and initiatives, overseeing multiple projects and managing various stakeholder expectations.
  • Responsible for planning and managing programs to meet product delivery, quality, and cost goals (planning, scheduling, budgeting, status reports, presentations)
  • Accomplish operational objectives by overseeing multiple projects.
  • Develop and implement program management methodologies and best practices to improve program outcomes
  • Improve processes and collaborate with the NPI team to continuously improve the entire product life cycle - Maximizing the performance of the NPI Team.
  • Monitor progress to plan and design a recovery strategy if project deviates from baseline plan.
  • Assemble and publish effective status reports able to serve a variety of audiences from project team members to the VP level Helping to drive continuous efforts to improve manufacturing factory yields
  • Manage the prototype manufacturing builds for Product Development – Concept to launch
  • Represent the MFG team with the product lifecycle management
  • Identify potential risks that could disrupt projects or organizational objectives, including financial, operational, and strategic risks.
  • Work closely with leaders and team members to identify opportunities for AI integration to understand project requirements.
  • Mentor and support junior program managers and coordinators, fostering their professional development, When applicable.
  • Responsible for upholding F5’s Business Code of Ethics and for promptly reporting violations of the Code or other company policies.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
