About The Position

POSITION SUMMARY: The Technical Specialist – Float supports Quality, Technical, and Production teams by performing material testing, data analysis, customer complaint investigations, supplier corrective actions, environmental compliance tracking, and floor support. This role requires flexibility to assist wherever business needs are highest, ensuring product quality, regulatory compliance, and operational continuity. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Perform in-process, final product, and incoming raw material testing; analyze and document results using statistical methods. Interpret specifications, drawings, and formulas to validate product compliance. Issue and support Supplier Corrective Action Requests and assist with customer complaints (SCARs/XCARs). Prepare certification reports, graphs, and quality documentation. Support Pareto tracking, quality hold, scrap analysis, and ISO audit activities. Maintain SDS database and environmental compliance records, including hazardous waste coordination per USEPA/OHEPA requirements. Manage and maintain the sample room and sample inventory, including organization, tracking, replenishment, and proper documentation. Provide technical support to production, including floor coverage and special testing as needed. Maintain lab equipment, chemical inventory, SOP documentation, and training support. Assist cross-functionally as business needs require and work overtime when necessary.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Strong problem-solving skills along with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively interface with quality team, technical team, and management
  • Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness, exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong technical background and strives to continuously build knowledge and skills
  • Ability to perform each essential job function satisfactorily
  • Ability to monitor own work to ensure quality
  • Maintains a positive, professional attitude and demonstrates flexibility in supporting changing business needs

Nice To Haves

  • AA/AS degree in a related field or equivalent experience required
  • Knowledge of Contact Management systems: Database, Design, Project Management, Spreadsheet and Word Processing Software
