About The Position

Key to delivering world class products to our customers is the ability to optimize the cost and efficiency of our manufacturing processes. Reporting to the Technical Director, the Technical Support Engineer is responsible for providing technical support; assigns and supervises project staff to installations/implementations; monitors deliverables to meet client needs regarding products/services. Responsible for supporting sales representatives by providing technical knowledge to clients and potential clients. Gathers client feedback and suggests new products/services or makes recommendations for improvements to existing products/services. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.

Requirements

  • 5 years plus related experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
  • Strong analytical capabilities combined with problem solving and proficient computer skills.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate and relate to people at all levels of an organization.
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-directed with attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to lead process improvements using our HandyTube continuous improvement system.
  • Ability to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects and tools, reach with hands and arms, and regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Positive attitude, good judgment and excellent time management skills

Responsibilities

  • Promote Safety as the Number One Priority of all HandyTube employees.
  • Provide technical / processing support to operations staff. This includes troubleshooting existing processes.
  • Manage all aspects of new process development (NPD) programs. This begins by working with the commercial team to determine needs of the customer, evaluating how HandyTube can meet these needs, gap analysis for equipment and processes, process development, preproduction trials, qualification trials and release to production.
  • Support process optimization. Determine ways to maximize capacity and minimize labor and material input. This includes but is not limited to improving draw process, lubricants, tooling, cleaning process, consolidation of annealing cycles to maximize furnace loading.
  • Interface with customers and HTC commercial team to support business development activities.
  • Interface with customers and HTC quality to troubleshoot customer quality or performance concerns.
  • Attend trade shows and staff HTC booth to support sales activities.
  • Support customer visits and tours at HandyTube as well as visits to customer facilities
  • Remain current on state-of-the-art tube processing methods, equipment, tooling, drawing compounds by attending trade shows, reading literature, and talking with industry leaders.
  • Provide direct supervision and mentorship where needed in the plant.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.
