Product Focus Ping Identity’s Authorization products use attribute-based context, such as risk signals and user attributes, in policies that enforce application and API access. Authorization policies are externalized from application code to a centralized interface that enables admins to build and test policies in a decision tree. This role will have a strong emphasis on creating documentation for a variety of audience types to implement, configure, troubleshoot, and manage the products. Ping Identity's Authorization products use attribute-based context, such as risk signals and user data, to enforce dynamic access across applications and APIs. By decoupling authorization logic from application code, our platform enables admins to build and manage complex policies through a centralized visual editor. Ping Identity is seeking a Technical Writer to join our extraordinary documentation team. Reporting to one of the technical documentation managers, you'll be working on technical content within a Docs-as-Code environment. This hybrid position is based in our Austin, Texas, USA office.

Requirements

  • At least 5-8+ years of technical writing experience.
  • Proven experience documenting complex software, with a strong preference for IAM applications or security products.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and quality standards with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to quickly learn evolving features and complex software by navigating early-stage development environments with minimal supervision.
  • Prior experience or exposure to software development, including familiarity with Agile.
  • Experience with Jira and Confluence or similar project management platforms.
  • Strong understanding of the needs and workflows of technical administrators.
  • Experience with video content creation or graphic design.

Nice To Haves

  • Documenting AI/ML concepts and their application in cybersecurity or identity verification.
  • Building, installing, configuring, and debugging client and server software.
  • Documenting IAM applications for power users, particularly related to authorization and API access control.
  • Working with PingOne or other Ping Identity products.
  • Writing for a technical audience, including system administrators and configuration managers.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts, engineers, and product teams (both in person and remotely) to define, design, create, and maintain core administrator documentation.
  • Collaborate effectively with a globally distributed team and stakeholders across various time zones.
  • Deliver clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation, catering specifically to the needs of identity and access management (IAM) administrators configuring, managing and using the product.
  • Investigate, research, and learn PingOne Authorize, Ping Authorize, and other PingOne products, along with the standards they depend on, to ensure accurate and comprehensive documentation.
  • Translate complex technical concepts related to authorization into clear and concise documentation for an administrator audience.
  • Work with AsciiDoc in a Docs-as-Code authoring and publishing environment using IntelliJ IDE and Git (GitHub).
  • Follow the software development lifecycle closely to anticipate and ascertain documentation needs.
