About The Position

HiddenLayer is expanding its product offerings and gaining momentum on feature releases across all of its products. This means more user documentation, so we are seeking a Technical Writer Intern for our AI Security products. Get ready to create technical documentation that informs and guides a technical audience through HiddenLayer’s product features to achieve desired security goals. As a Technical Writer Intern, you will gain exposure to the security industry by helping update product documentation, including guides, reference material, and release notes. You will also help review and edit content from other documentation contributors. In this role, you will learn to understand customers’ needs through collaboration and planning. The Technical Writer Intern will work in a program designed to help college students gain experience and develop the technology, professional, and interpersonal skills to use throughout their career. Work with internal teams to obtain in-depth understanding of procedures and documentation requirements. Learn to ensure the appropriate document criteria are met, proper terminology is used, and writing guidelines are applied consistently.

Requirements

  • Working on a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, English, Technical Writing, or a related field.
  • 3rd or 4th year
  • Ability to write clear instructions.
  • Ability to review content for spelling and grammar errors.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Research and analysis skills.
  • Excellent time management.
  • Willingness to ask questions to understand the product or project being worked on.
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn.
  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Are enrolled in an academic program that is physically located in the United States
  • Have at least two writing samples or projects, demonstrating past experience and deliverables of writing samples (website, link, reports, portfolios, etc.).

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with markdown files.
  • Familiarity with GitHub.
  • Familiarity with DITA.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with updating existing documentation based on input from product stakeholders. This will include using the Jira ticketing system to track progress and capture changes.
  • Assist with updating product release notes based on input from product management and other stakeholders.
  • Assist with reviewing and editing work from other writers and contributors.
  • Translate complex information into clear, user-friendly documentation.
