Job Summary: Monitor patients with implanted cardiac devices and perform a variety of diagnostic procedures, analyses and evaluations through remote monitoring and at clinic settings Job Description: Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Enroll patients in remote monitoring of devices; educate patients about devices Schedule and monitor device remote transmissions; monitor alerts received from devices and notify patients of significant results and to schedule an appointment with physicians Evaluate device programming and proper functioning including batteries and wires/leads; monitor device battery life and voltage Program/reprogram devices as needed; identify and address device malfunctions Provide care for the physical needs of patients including wound care for newly implanted devices, staple/suture removal Notify physicians regarding significant findings/results including irregular heart rhythms Complete and upload/scan reports to patients’ electronic medical record Order devices, supplies and educational materials for the clinic or to be sent to patients’ homes Establish and maintain productive working relationships with people inside and outside the department and/or practice Supervisory Responsibilities: None Additional Responsibilities: Other duties as may be assigned Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Requirements

  • Completion of an approved cardiac device technical program
  • 1-3 years cardiac device management experience
  • Patient care experience
  • Certification as a Certified Cardiographic Technician
  • ACLS and BLS Certification
  • Knowledge of cardiac anatomy and physiology, cardiovascular diseases,cardiac medications and cardiac rhythms
  • Ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythm data
  • Good written and verbal communication skills to convey and receive information effectively (face-to-face, telephone and electronic)
  • Good analytical and judgment skills
  • Ability to use computer software programs and systems
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding patients, personnel and/or financial data
  • Excellent organizational skills to work independently, prioritize, handle multiple tasks and manage time
  • Compliance with departmental Health and Safety policies and procedures
  • Mandatory TB test annually (based on Department guidelines)
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Prolonged periods of walking, sitting, standing, stooping/kneeling, bending
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds regularly
  • Close vision and ability to focus on computer screens and documents; distance vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; ability to adjust vision focus
  • Use of hands to handle, control or feel objects, tools or controls
  • Operate in a hospital, medical center or clinic setting
  • Routinely use medical devices and equipment including pacemakers, defibrillators and other cardiac devices
  • Routinely use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and fax machines
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
  • 40-hour workweek
  • Hours and days to be determined by the business needs of the department
  • May require on-call duty and the ability to work outside of scheduled work hours when the need arises
  • Wayne Health requires all employees [temporary employees and contractors] who will interact with the public and/or co-workers, regardless of clinical responsibility or patient contact, to have started their primary vaccination series against COVID-19 or received a sincerely held religious belief or medical exemption. All newly hired employees are required to have received their first vaccination dose prior to their start date of employment and completed primary series as outlined in FDA’s prescribing instruction for vaccine administration. New hires must also receive their booster within 30 days after the date that they are eligible to receive it, per CDC guidelines. Exemptions or accommodations to the Wayne Health vaccine requirement may be approved under certain limited circumstances. Anyone with an approved exemption must have weekly PCR COVID-19 testing on their own time and submit the results every Monday, before arriving at work. Employees whose positions are 100% remote are exempt from these requirements.
