About The Position

This role offers the opportunity to develop skills in a rewarding trade within the aerospace industry at BAE Systems Space and Mission Systems. We provide training to help you begin your career, and you'll work alongside experienced craftsmen who will support you daily. This is a day shift opportunity with typical working hours of 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. The Operations Strategic Capabilities Unit plays a fundamental role in enabling efficient business and program execution – from strategic capital investments, industrial operations and an efficient supply chain, to state-of-the-art manufacturing and test operations and top-notch facilities management.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent plus 1 year or more related experience.
  • Each higher-level related degree, i.e., Bachelor’s or Master’s, may substitute for two years of related experience. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • Ability to pass in-house certifications, including personal protective equipment, hazardous waste, and hazard communication.
  • Experience using Microsoft Windows operating systems, including Excel, Outlook, and Word
  • Ability to navigate system tools for scheduling and procurement purposes.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous tool crib experience.
  • Machine shop exposure.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a vertical band saw to support machine shop operations.
  • Manage tool crib inventory to support Vendor-Managed Inventory (VMI).
  • Ensure tooling is calibrated and maintained to prevent expiration of due dates.
  • Collaborate with machinists on various tasks around the shop.
  • Support machine shop operations by adhering to 6S processes and scheduling.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities to drive efficiency and quality.
  • Work with solvents and comply with all Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) regulations
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
