About The Position

OnSite Partners is seeking a Technician II perform and lead complex troubleshooting, maintenance, component replacement, and commissioning activities on utility-scale wind turbines and associated collection systems. This role serves as the senior technical resource on site and may provide direction to junior technicians during both scheduled preventive maintenance and unscheduled corrective repairs. This position requires advanced knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and control systems across multiple voltage classes, along with strong diagnostic and leadership capabilities.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of wind turbine maintenance experience
  • Demonstrated advanced troubleshooting ability
  • Experience with medium-voltage systems
  • Ability to climb turbines (300+ feet) and work at heights
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to pass background check and drug screening

  • MSHA Part 46 certification
  • NFPA 70E training
  • Experience leading major component exchanges
  • SCADA system familiarity
  • Experience with SEL technology

  • Experience in industrial, utility-scale, or renewable energy environments
  • Working knowledge of NEC and NFPA 70E

Responsibilities

  • Lead scheduled preventive maintenance on wind turbines
  • Lead troubleshooting of complex turbine faults and recurring system failures
  • Diagnose electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and control system issues
  • Analyze fault codes, SCADA data, and performance trends
  • Perform root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions
  • Support remote operations and engineering teams with technical expertise
  • Perform work across varying AC and DC voltage classes including:
  • Low-voltage control systems
  • 480V–690V turbine systems
  • Medium-voltage collection systems and switchgear (as qualified)
  • Conduct advanced electrical testing including:
  • Insulation resistance (megger) testing
  • Continuity and phase rotation testing
  • Torque verification
  • Transformer and breaker inspections
  • System Operator on-call duties
  • Lead lockout/tagout (LOTO) and arc-flash safety procedures
  • Assist with protection systems and relay interface troubleshooting
  • Lead major corrective repairs and component replacements
  • Ensure proper torquing, alignment, and commissioning procedures
  • Support turbine commissioning and re-commissioning activities
  • Perform performance testing and system validation
  • Assist with software updates and controller adjustments
  • Provide technical guidance to entry-level and intermediate technicians
  • Lead job safety analyses (JSAs) and daily safety briefings
  • Assist site leadership with planning and scheduling complex work scopes
  • Serve as acting lead technician when required
  • Complete detailed service reports and root cause documentation
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, and site-specific safety standards
  • Ensure adherence to manufacturer specifications and quality standards
