About The Position

The Center for Excellence in Digital Education (Pitt EDGE) seeks an experienced Instructional Technologist to support a university-wide initiative focused on online and hybrid program development and delivery. This contracted position is responsible for the technical implementation, administration, and support of learning technologies, primarily in Canvas and Canvas Catalog, across credit-bearing and non-credit programs. The Instructional Technologist will collaborate closely with the learning design team to build and configure courses, manage subaccounts and enrollments, support backend payment gateway configuration for Catalog offerings, badging, and ensure proper setup of course permissions and integrations. The role includes assisting with LTI integrations and testing, troubleshooting LMS and enrollment issues, supporting digital credential and certificate workflows, maintaining sandbox/test environments, and providing faculty training and technical consultation on learning technologies. The position requires strong technical problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects in a collaborative academic environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Educational Technology, Instructional Design, Information Science, Computer Science, or a related field (or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience)
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience supporting instructional technologies in higher education or professional education environments.
  • Demonstrated experience administering or supporting Canvas LMS is required
  • Experience configuring LMS course settings, subaccounts, enrollments, permissions, and backend administrative functions is required
  • Familiarity with payment gateway configuration and non-credit enrollment workflows.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Experience providing faculty training and technical consultation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently with strong organizational attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • Canvas Catalog experience strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of LTI standards and experience supporting tool integrations and testing are preferred.
