Works under the direct supervision of the Traffic Signs & Markings Supervisor. Installs, maintains, and repairs traffic signs including layout, assembly, and disassembly, pole (post) setting, straightening and graffiti removal. Assists in pavement marking installations, executing city-wide curb painting program, deploying traffic control for city-wide special events. Assists in the long line striping layout program. Assists in maintaining and operating thermoplastic machine. Assist signs and marking crew in scheduled sign maintenance or pavement marking work as directed by Traffic Signs & Markings Supervisor. Assists in operating and deploying variable message boards. Using excellent customer service skills, establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other employees, officials, and all members of the general public. Operates a motor vehicle to assist in carrying out the business of the department and the City. Is generally alert to conditions and events occurring on city streets and rights-of-way and can respond accordingly. While performing job duties, takes proper safety precautions, anticipates unsafe circumstances and acts accordingly to prevent accidents. Responsible for the safety of self, others, materials and equipment. Attendance at work is an essential function of this position. NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Perform some or all the duties of the Traffic Signs & Markings Supervisor as directed. Perform some or all the duties of the Traffic Signs & Markings Technicians, as required.
