About The Position
The Sort Station Operator directs boards and cants to the resaw or gang edger.
Requirements
- Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older.
- Ability to recognize lumber size and measure lumber with tape measure.
- Ability to follow all company, state and federal safety rules when performing required job duties.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment criminal history check and a pre-employment drug screening.
Responsibilities
- Comply with safety standards at all times and correct/report any observed safety hazards.
- Measure and direct boards and cants to the correct area.
- Monitor and maintain flow of the: infeed and outfeed rolls on the resaw, infeed cant deck, and cant flippers from the headsaw.
- Assist in changing saws and maintaining resaw infeed and outfeed chains.
- Perform startup and shutdown equipment inspections. Perform weekly PM inspections.
- Report manufacturing defects to the supervisor.
- Clean and maintain working area and equipment.
- Train new operators.
- Perform additional duties as required by supervisor.
- On-site attendance is essential to effectively perform the listed duties and responsibilities.
