About The Position

The Department of Chemistry and Physics at Louisiana State University at Alexandria invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Chemistry. This is a 9-month position to begin in August 2026. This position focuses on providing high quality instruction in undergraduate chemistry courses both on campus and online. The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in Chemistry with teaching experience in a wide range of areas, including General, Analytical, & Instrumental Analysis. The opportunity exists to develop additional upper-level classes in the candidate’s area of expertise.

Requirements

A graduate degree with at least 18 hours in Chemistry (not Chemistry or Science Education)
Teaching experience, preferably at the college level.
Ability to convey chemistry concepts in a clear and engaging manner.
Commitment to excellence in teaching.
Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

Develops and teaches lecture and laboratory courses as assigned, both in-person and online.
Maintain high standards of instruction and utilize innovative teaching methods to support student success.
Mentors undergraduate research for students in chemistry
Maintains high standards of instruction
Regularly keeps office hours and is receptive to students both in person and electronically
Offers quality academic advising to students on academic and career-related matters
Actively serves on university committees and participates in institutional meetings
Contributes to curriculum development and review processes to ensure alignment with academic goals.
Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor
