About The Position

A Great Plains Ag Territory Manager is responsible for working with dealers in a specific area to promote and sell Great Plains products.  Our products are designed to benefit the grower, the dealer, the company, and the territory manager based around sound agronomic principles.  A Great Plains Territory Manager needs to be a self-motivated individual with a background in agriculture.  A Territory Manager needs business acumen, but also must have a hands-on approach to equipment for field demonstrations and assisting customers. This territory is currently comprised of 40 dealer locations across Eastern and Central Texas.  Most of these dealers have a “major” line like John Deere, Case IH, New Holland, Kubota or AGCO, but some are “short line only” stand alone dealers.

Requirements

  • Must live within the described sales territory in Texas
  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or minimum two years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of sales experience, preferably in the agricultural sector
  • Residency within the designated territory
  • Willingness to travel extensively (over 50% of the time)
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

  • Proven success in the ag industry in North Dakota, Minnesota, or nearby regions
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills

Responsibilities

  • Achieving company / territory revenue goals through retail sales of wholegoods and service parts
  • Assisting dealer sales staff in retail customer visits to promote the sale of Great Plains products
  • Promoting and being involved in grower meetings, demonstrations, field days, and open houses
  • Utilize company ordering programs to ensure proper dealer inventory at the proper season
  • Develop the territory: drive revenue growth from all dealers, replacing inactive dealers, recruiting new dealers, and being involved in identifying all opportunities for growth
  • Inventory control / Inventory reporting
  • Market planning (understanding regional demand for products)
  • Initiating a training program for sales and service personnel in each dealership
  • Front line support for the dealer and grower on product performance and service issues
  • Attending annual sales meetings to stay informed on our products and promote your personal development and growth
