About The Position

This position is accountable for collecting, analyzing, and securely storing pavement testing data from the bureau's field pavement data collection and equipment certification efforts. This position is accountable for providing technical support, coordinating the ongoing use, maintenance, enhancement of computer hardware, data information systems used in the bureau's field pavement data collection efforts and certification activities at the Illinois Certification and Research Track (ICART). In addition, this position is accountable for ensuring test and certification data is transferred between collection systems and storage systems to ensure files are accurate, complete, and secure. This position also assists in the support of other data reduction, collection and storage activities conducted by the bureau.

Requirements

  • Completion of a bachelor's degree majoring in computer science or information technology PLUS two years of experience with managing and handling large data sets; OR eight years of experience with managing and handling large data sets.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Occasional statewide travel and limited out-of-state travel with overnight stays.
  • Successful completion of a background screening.

  • Working knowledge of database management, electronic records, and website maintenance.
  • Ability to transfer, sort, and store large data sets to maintain integrity of files and databases.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at various professional levels in both oral and written formats.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains, analyzes, and securely stores field pavement testing data and equipment certification data for use by the bureau, central offices, and districts.
  • Provides technical support and coordinates the ongoing use, maintenance, and enhancement of computer hardware and data information systems used in the bureau's field pavement data collection efforts.
  • Develops, reviews, and documents data collection or reduction procedures and makes changes or recommends improvements to processes.
  • Designs, maintains, and enhances database systems, ensuring that necessary changes and upgrades are implemented and documented.
  • Assists in field data collection, error resolution, and data reduction, merging, and transferring as requested without adversely impacting field testing schedules.
  • Supports other data reduction, collection, and storage activities conducted by the bureau.
  • Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules. Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
