Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Theatre, Communication Arts, or related field required
  • Demonstrated experience in theatre direction, choreography, or performing arts education.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage students and educators effectively.
  • Willingness to travel regionally for recruitment events.

Responsibilities

  • Represent Bluefield University's Theatre Program and the Communication Arts - Theatre Concentration at area high schools, community colleges, and community events.
  • Conduct engaging workshops, classroom presentations, and performance demonstrations to attract and inform prospective students.
  • Build and maintain relationships with theatre educators, guidance counselors, and community theatre organizations to enhance recruitment pipelines.
  • Assist the Admissions and Communication Arts teams in developing marketing materials, digital content, and outreach strategies for theatre recruitment.
  • Provide reports on recruitment activities and prospective student engagement.
  • Serve as assistant director and/or choreographer for Bluefield University Theatre and Bluefield Youth and Community Theatre productions.
  • Collaborate with faculty, students, and community members to support creative direction, staging, and rehearsal processes.
  • Participate in production planning meetings and contribute to the season's artistic vision.
  • Assist with auditions, casting, and coordination of student performers.
  • Support theatre events, performances, and outreach efforts as assigned.
