About The Position

The Tissue Technician I primary responsibility is to assist histology with specimen processing in the clinical laboratory. This may include receiving specimens, ensuring accurate entry into the Laboratory Information System (LIS), and /or preparing samples for testing and analysis. Maintains flexibility regarding work schedule including section assignment. This is an onsite position out of our San Diego office with a schedule of Tuesday - Saturday, 2:00pm - 10:30pm. The Tissue Technician I is responsible for specimen reconciling, sample return, and ensuring quality throughout the pre-analytical processes; other duties as assigned Multi-tasking efficiently, maintaining flexibility, and working as a team player will be critical while processing samples according to multiple workflows and maintaining established turnaround times Capable of identifying specimen processing problems that may adversely affect the reporting of test results and immediately notify the supervisor Complete other related administrative duties, including copying, filing and data entry Maintain supply inventory logs - materials and laboratory supplies Take ownership and accountability of ensuring the highest quality of internal/external customer service Participates in projects, research, and validation activities as assigned. Perform all duties according to guidelines outlined within the quality systems Compliant with company policies, procedures, safety requirements and regulations

Requirements

  • High school diploma required
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a laboratory setting
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate with peers
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and exercise good judgment
  • Exposure to general office and laboratory environment conditions
  • Handling and disposing of hazardous non-hazardous materials
  • Repetitive movement of fingers, hands, arms and legs
  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity for handling and processing specimens
  • Sitting, walking, standing, bending, talking and hearing
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment, including gloves, lab coats, and safety glasses
  • Occasionally required to lift to 25 pounds

Nice To Haves

  • A four-year degree in life sciences preferred
