About The Position

Under general supervision, designs, builds and repairs a variety of tools, jigs, fixtures, welding, brazing, and assembly fixtures. POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the department supervisor and or Tool & Die Lead this person will setup and changeover dies, repair and modify dies, make fixtures and gauges to very specific and precise dimensions.

Requirements

  • Requires a high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Requires 1-3 years related experience.
  • Equipment background to include experience operating lathes, milling machines, and grinders to cut, bore, grinders resulting in prescribed dimensions and finishes.
  • Must have the physical ability to perform all job duties and responsibilities as listed above.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair complex stamping dies.
  • Fabrication of die tooling/components from samples or engineering drawings.
  • Conduct test runs with completed tools or dies to ensure that parts meet specifications; adjust as necessary.
  • Preventative maintenance of dies.
  • Die setup and changeovers on presses.
  • Set up and operate conventional or computer numerically controlled machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders to cut, bore, grind, or otherwise shape parts to prescribed dimensions and finishes.
  • Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators.
