We are committed to high-quality, energy-efficient solutions that improve environments where people live and work.  Job Summary  The Tool and Die role is responsible for repair, maintenance, procurement, and/or fabrication of all tooling, dies, jigs, and fixtures used in Fabrication/CNC’s and assembly on 2nd shift.  With primary responsibility for assuring tooling and dies are properly maintained so that production parts conform to strict blueprint specifications.

Requirements

  • Must be able to read blueprints.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with customers, clients, co-workers and management.
  • Continue to grow lean knowledge and use the tools to identify and assist with continuous improvement.
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas
  • Ability to work with all levels of employees
  • Minimum 2+ years hands on experience working as a tool and die marker 
  • Associates degree or a trade school background in machining/tooling field
  • Die making experience

Responsibilities

  • Studies specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, and visualizes products to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate parts.
  • Computes dimensions, plans layout, and determines assembly method and sequence of operations.
  • Measures, marks, and scribes metal stock for machining.
  • Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathes, milling machine, shaper, and grinder, to machine parts, and verifies conformance of machine parts to specifications.
  • Verifies dimensions, alignments, and clearances.
  • Examines standard or previously used dies, tools, and jigs and fixtures, and recommends design modifications regarding construction and function of part.
  • May need to design, fabricate, test and produce new tools, gauges and jigs to assist production teams
  • Develops specifications from general descriptions for specialty tools and draws or sketches design of product and works with external vendors to design and procure tooling and dies.
  • Adheres to established tool room practices and safety procedures.
  • Assists in setup and troubleshooting of stamping presses, turret presses, and press brakes. 
  • Other duties as directed
