About The Position

Tool and Die Maker repairs, modifies, and troubleshoots punch press and multi-slide dies to maintain part quality and production efficiency. The role involves precision machining, die adjustments, engineering changes, and debugging new tooling to ensure reliable manufacturing performance.

Requirements

5+ years’ experience in tool and die making, including troubleshooting punch press and multi-slide dies.
Completion of an accredited apprenticeship or equivalent formal training.
Strong ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and apply advanced trade mathematics.
Proficient in operating precision machine tools and inspection equipment (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, etc.).
Ability to perform close-tolerance machining, lift up to 50 lbs., and work safely in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot punch press and multi-slide dies in production to identify root causes and implement corrective action.
Disassemble dies to inspect and replace worn or damaged components.
Machine new die sections and components using precision equipment.
Reassemble, try out, and adjust dies to meet dimensional and quality specifications.
Analyze previous production runs to identify potential die failures and prevent downtime.
Modify existing dies to support engineering changes and production improvements.
Try out and debug new dies prior to release into production.
Recommend tooling design improvements to enhance quality and reduce costs.
Maintain tooling records, job history documentation, and spare parts inventory.
Ensure compliance with safety standards while maintaining a clean and organized tool room.
