About The Position

The Tooling Technician I plays a crucial role in the durable goods manufacturing process by ensuring that all fixtures and tooling are maintained, repaired, and calibrated to meet production standards. This position is responsible for supporting the manufacturing team by providing high-quality tools and fixtures that enhance productivity and efficiency. The technician will work closely with engineers and production staff to troubleshoot and resolve any tooling issues that may arise during the manufacturing process. By maintaining optimal tooling conditions, the technician contributes to the overall quality of the products produced. Ultimately, this role is essential for ensuring that production goals are met while maintaining adherence to safety and quality standards.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic understanding of mechanical systems and tooling.
• Strong mathematical skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Familiarity with hand tools and precision measuring instruments.

Nice To Haves

• Associate degree in a related field or equivalent technical training.
• Previous experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of CNC machinery and programming.
• Certification in tooling or fixture maintenance.
• Lean Six Sigma Certifications
• Tool and Die Courses or Certifications
• Proficiency in CAD/CAM and simulation software.
• CNC programming.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on fixtures and tooling used in the manufacturing process.
• Calibrate and adjust tools to ensure they meet specified tolerances and production requirements.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to identify tooling needs and implement solutions.
• Document all maintenance activities and maintain accurate records of tooling performance.
• Assist in the training of new technicians on proper tooling maintenance and safety procedures.
• Active participation in continuous improvement initiatives, incorporating feedback, and making iterative improvements to fixtures and tooling.
