About The Position

The Tooling Technician is responsible for the upkeep, repair, and enhancement of production tooling, fixtures, and molds/dies to ensure high product quality and reliable manufacturing. This position supports daily production needs, performs preventive maintenance, resolves tooling-related issues, and partners with Engineering and Quality teams to ensure tooling meets internal standards and production requirements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in tooling, machining, or maintenance within a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
  • Experience with machining equipment and hand tools
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • Basic computer skills for documentation
  • Ability to stand, walk, and work with tools for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed
  • Work in a manufacturing environment with machinery and noise
  • Fast-paced production setting requiring attention to safety, quality, and detail
  • Frequent collaboration with Production, Engineering, Maintenance, and Quality teams

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on tooling, molds, dies, jigs, and fixtures
  • Troubleshoot and repair tooling issues to minimize downtime
  • Disassemble, clean, reassemble, and adjust tooling components as required
  • Maintain accurate records of tooling repairs, modifications, and maintenance activities
  • Assist with tooling setup during production changeovers
  • Verify tooling alignment, fit, and functionality prior to production release
  • Support operators and supervisors with tooling-related issues on the production floor
  • Assist in fabrication or modification of tooling components using machining equipment (mills, lathes, grinders)
  • Inspect tooling for wear, damage, or dimensional variance
  • Ensure tooling supports consistent product quality standards
  • Partner with Quality teams to address tooling-related defects or nonconformances
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation for tooling maintenance and calibration
  • Track tooling inventory, spare parts, and consumables
  • Maintain organized tooling storage with proper labeling and controls
  • Update tooling logs, maintenance schedules, and repair history records
