About The Position

As a Tortilla Prep at Los Tacos No.1, you will be responsible for preparing fresh, delicious tortillas that are essential to our signature tacos and other menu items. Your primary responsibilities will include: Prepare and cook fresh tortillas using our traditional recipes and techniques, ensuring that each tortilla meets our quality standards for taste, texture, and appearance. Measure and portion ingredients accurately according to established recipes, including flour, water, salt, and other ingredients used in tortilla dough. Operate tortilla-making equipment, such as tortilla presses or griddles, safely and efficiently, adjusting settings as needed to achieve the desired thickness and consistency. Monitor tortilla production for consistency and quality, conducting visual inspections and taste tests to ensure that all tortillas meet our standards for freshness and flavor. Maintain adequate supplies of tortilla ingredients, including flour, water, and other necessary items, communicating with management to reorder as needed to avoid shortages. Follow proper food safety and sanitation procedures at all times, including maintaining a clean and organized work area, sanitizing equipment regularly, and adhering to health and safety regulations. Work closely with kitchen staff, cooks / taqueros, to coordinate tortilla production with other food preparation activities and ensure a smooth flow of operations during peak hours. Requirements

  • Previous experience in food preparation, particularly in the production of tortillas or similar baked goods, is preferred but not required.
  • Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
  • Ability to follow recipes and portion sizes accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and maintain composure during busy periods.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
