About The Position

The TPA Consultant is responsible for the administration and compliance oversight of defined contribution retirement plans. This role ensures accurate plan administration, regulatory compliance, and timely client deliverables by managing plan census data, performing required testing and calculations, and preparing government filings. The ideal candidate will positively impact client retirement plan operations by delivering technically sound work while maintaining strong client relationships in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Requirements

  • Qualified 401(k) Administrator (QKA) or Qualified 401(k) Consultant (QKC) credentials preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in TPA retirement plan administration managing a book of business
  • Strong working knowledge of defined contribution plan design and compliance requirements
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and proactively
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • High level of attention to detail

Responsibilities

  • Manage a block of defined contribution retirement plans, performing full-service administration duties
  • Collect and review plan census data for accuracy and completeness
  • Perform contribution calculations, eligibility determinations, vesting calculations, and trust accounting
  • Conduct nondiscrimination testing and calculate corrective distributions, including associated earnings
  • Calculate lost earnings on late 401(k) deferrals and loan repayments
  • Prepare and/or review qualified retirement plan documents and amendments using approved software
  • Prepare and/or review Forms 5500 and 8955-SSA in compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Prepare Form 5330 when required for corrective distributions
  • Prepare and distribute required participant notices, including Safe Harbor, QDIA, automatic enrollment, and fee disclosures
  • Maintain timely communication with clients via phone, email, and in-person meetings
  • Ensure client needs, requests, and compliance challenges are addressed promptly
  • Assist senior consultants in coordinating with actuaries on cash balance and defined contribution combination plans
