Traffic Safety Services, Inc. is seeking a Traffic Control Supervisor . The successful candidate will be a dedicated team player with the ability to manage others. This person will be able to direct their teammates in the successful achievement of their project goals, while also interacting politely and respectfully with the contractor, customers, etc. Establishing a strong working relationship with administrative staff will be essential.

Requirements

  • Requires a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Maintain a valid Traffic Control Course (TCS) certification and Traffic Control Technician certificate.
  • Requires a valid driver's license (CDL may be required).
  • Required 2+ years in a leadership role
  • Must be able to and enjoy connecting with field-level customers and contacts.
  • Must take the initiative to build work relationships with your team.
  • Must conduct yourself in a manner promoting a professional atmosphere by being a team player, self-motivated, organized and having a positive attitude.
  • Must have good oral and/or written English communication skills with co-workers, customers, contractors, and engineers.
  • Work week varies - overtime is required when needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer 2+ years of traffic control experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide traffic control as required.
  • Perform and document a daily inspection of the installation, operation, maintenance, and removal of all traffic control devices.
  • Correct traffic control conditions that cause erratic vehicle movements, unexpected braking, etc.
  • Propose changes to improve traffic flow through the work zone.
  • Have the appropriate training or experience with portable traffic signals or AFAD's.
  • Be able to manage laborers, flaggers, and pilot car operators when job requires.
  • Ability to interpret maps and blueprints pertaining to layout and installation of traffic control equipment.
  • Must have a clear understanding of all codes, specifications, and guidelines set forth by, but not limited to, regulatory, local, and private agencies as they pertain to the related duties and work sites.
  • Interpret plans, project, and perform job take offs.
  • Meet on a regular basis with branch managers and other division managers, resolving any problems and discussing possible solutions.
  • Utilize continuing education courses related to traffic control.
  • Schedule, supervise, and prioritize to effectively utilize resources and to meet customer/client project requirements.
  • Lead, train, motivate, coach and counsel employees to meet the expectations of their positions.
  • Monitor employee performance and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Provide customer/client satisfaction by applying cost effective work practices to ensure job quality and reliability.
  • Meet and maintain key metrics by organizing daily/weekly/monthly duties for all members of your team.
  • Assure the timely completion of all administrative processes, such as mandated annual reviews, expense reports, etc.
  • Maintain Field/Office Responsibilities; 80% in Field and 20% in Office
  • Ensure that safety, quality, training, employee engagement, and retention are the prime focus of the business.
  • Protect the company's employees, customers, and assets against losses, injuries, and accidents through enforcement of safe work practices in compliance with the Company's safety policies; help develop safety awareness.
  • Develop relationships with internal and external customers to achieve goals and create new business opportunities.
  • Perform field and vehicle inspections, attend pre-bid meetings, meet with clients and work in the field with the team as needed.
  • Monitor daily employee issues including payroll, timekeeping, benefits, time off requests, customer issues, and training requirements.
  • Facilitate teambuilding efforts and regular communications with team members.
  • Engage and support the training of new and current employees to reduce turnover, promote efficiency and reduce labor costs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
