About The Position

The Training and EHS Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining employee training processes and initiatives while also supporting environmental health and safety programs, and workplace injury prevention activities. This dual-role position ensures compliance with regulatory standards and fosters a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous learning within the Taber operational facilities.

  • Organization & Recordkeeping: Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple training plans, employee progress reports, and documentation simultaneously. Maintains accurate, up‑to‑date records and proactively tracks deadlines, certifications, and follow‑up items. Demonstrates strong follow‑through by ensuring all required documentation is completed and all employee training milestones are monitored and recorded consistently.
  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, Environmental Science, Human Resources, or related field (or equivalent experience) preferred.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulations.
  • Strong computer and analytical skills and prior experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and safety management software preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred 3+ years of experience in EHS and/or training roles, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.

Responsibilities

  • Training & Development:
  • Assess training needs across departments and develop training plans.
  • Design and deliver onboarding programs for new hires to ensure positive communication of Taber culture.
  • Facilitate job-specific training for production, maintenance, and quality teams.
  • Maintain training records and ensure certifications and requirements are up to date.
  • Collaborate with supervisors to identify skill gaps and recommend development opportunities.
  • Implement cross-training programs to improve workforce flexibility.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness and adjust programs as needed.
  • Create and maintain training materials, including SOPs and work instructions.
  • Track training completion, certifications, renewals, and employee competencies.
  • Prepare reports and documentation for audits, inspections, and leadership reviews.
  • Conduct scheduled check‑ins with new hires at key intervals during their first year and analyze trends from new hire feedback to recommend improvements to onboarding, safety training, and employee engagement processes.
  • Support employee engagement initiatives.
  • Environmental Health & Safety (EHS):
  • Support the enforcement and maintenance of OSHA-compliant safety programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
  • Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions with local management.
  • Manage hazardous waste disposal, air and water quality compliance, and other environmental regulations.
  • Maintain records of safety incidents, training, and regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate emergency response plans and drills.
  • Support location management as contact for regulatory agencies and third-party auditors.
  • Other duties as assigned.
