About The Position

Non-exempt position. Maintain and implement the Personnel Training Program and provide Health and Safety (H&S) Program support.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in Science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Working knowledge of Washington State L&I / WISHA regulations, OSHA standards, EPA requirements, and other applicable federal and state safety regulations.
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in health and safety, industrial hygiene, safety training, or regulatory compliance in an industrial environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong safety mindset and commitment to regulatory compliance.
  • Good attendance record.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience conducting facility safety audits, workplace hazard assessments, and industrial hygiene evaluations preferred.
  • Current HAZWOPER 40-hr certification preferred.
  • Current HAZWOPER 8-hr refresher certification preferred.
  • Radiation Worker certification preferred (if applicable to facility operations).

Responsibilities

  • Work in a mixed waste processing facility while maintaining strict adherence to safety and industrial hygiene requirements.
  • Implement and maintain a comprehensive Personnel Training Program to ensure regulatory and operational compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with Washington State L&I / WISHA safety standards, OSHA regulations, EPA requirements, permits, licenses, and internal procedures.
  • Conduct routine facility safety audits, hazard assessments, and compliance inspections to identify and mitigate workplace risks.
  • Provide initial, refresher, and specialized health and safety training for employees and contractors, including hazard communication, PPE, emergency response, and industrial hygiene practices.
  • Support development and maintenance of Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), safety procedures, and regulatory documentation.
  • Conduct incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action tracking related to workplace injuries, exposures, or safety violations.
  • Maintain calibration and operational readiness of industrial hygiene and H&S monitoring equipment.
  • Maintain safety, training, and compliance databases using Microsoft and other EHS systems.
  • Assist with administration of the Occupational Health Program, including exposure records and medical surveillance coordination when required.
  • Support plant personnel in implementing safe work practices, hazard controls, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Assist with regulatory inspections and audits conducted by state or federal agencies.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
