About The Position

Training Specialist, Senior is a role within the Organizational Development unit of the Department of Human Resources. Training Specialist, Senior is responsible for employee development training on behalf of the City of Atlanta/Department of Aviation.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of adult learning principles, methods, and best practices
  • Strong knowledge of assessment tools (MS Forms, SurveyMonkey, etc.)
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written and active listening skills).
  • Strong organizational, planning and time management skills.
  • Strong Collaboration Skills with Internal and External Customers/Clients
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Outlook) or related software.
  • Strong presentation skills for all job-class and skill levels.
  • Skilled in using Audio/Visual and other presentation equipment, including Smartboards and Virtual Platforms.
  • Reliable transportation when conducting training sessions, consultations, meetings off-site/other locations.
  • Ability to interface with a wide variety of job-class and skill levels.
  • Ability to deliver advanced Professional Development courses.
  • Ability to evaluate and research training options and alternatives
  • Ability to perform needs assessments and to analyze areas of strengths and areas of opportunity.
  • Ability to provide feedback (positive and re-directive) at all job-class and skill levels.
  • Ability to meet critical deadlines and execute projects/initiatives

Responsibilities

  • Conducts Supervisory, Management or Nontechnical Core-Skills training courses for Managers, Supervisors, Individual Contributors for the City of Atlanta/Department of Aviation.
  • Conducts needs assessment for training and staff development to enhance the effectiveness of employee performance in achieving the goals and objectives.
  • Supports online NEO: The Virtual Experience (New Hire Orientation).
  • Collaborates with Instructional Designers by researching training needs and planned courses
  • Assesses training and development needs through surveys, interviews, focus groups, and communication with managers, instructors, and internal customers.
  • Uses needs assessment tools to identify the need for, and to determine the effectiveness of training programs offered.
  • Conducts and Evaluates the effectiveness of training programs through training surveys and 60/90-day follow-up sessions utilizing the Kirkpatrick Model.
  • Evaluates existing and proposed programs, recommends changes when appropriate.
  • Presents training programs using various forms and formats including group discussion, simulation, videos, In-Person Instructor-Led Facilitation and Virtual Instructor-Led Facilitation.
  • Maintains knowledge of the latest trends in Professional Training and Development.
