About The Position

Our AmLaw 100 client is building out its national tax practice and is seeking a 4 to 6 year associate to step into a front-line role advising technology and life sciences companies at every stage of growth. This is a practice known for sitting at the center of the innovation economy, handling market-shaping transactions across the U.S. and internationally. You will advise on the full spectrum of federal, state, and international tax matters tied to: • Mergers and acquisitions • Capital markets transactions • Corporate finance • Equity financings • Technology transfers and complex licensing arrangements • Domestic and cross-border tax planning The practice works hand-in-hand with corporate, capital markets, and IP teams across offices, giving you consistent exposure to high-value, high-visibility matters. You will not be siloed. This is a nationally integrated tax group at a firm consistently ranked at the top of Vault and Chambers for corporate and emerging companies work. The platform is deeply embedded in the tech and life sciences sectors, representing companies from formation through IPO and beyond. Associates here gain early responsibility on sophisticated transactions and build real fluency in venture-backed and public company work. The compensation range is $310,000 to $390,000, based on class year, with discretionary merit bonuses. This role can sit in New York, Seattle, San Francisco, Palo Alto, or San Diego.

Requirements

  • 4 to 6 years of law firm tax experience
  • Strong grounding in transactional tax, including M&A and financing work
  • Comfort advising on both domestic and international tax structures
  • Excellent academic credentials and clear, precise communication skills
  • You should be confident running core components of transactions and comfortable interfacing directly with corporate deal teams.

  • Experience supporting emerging growth or middle-market companies preferred
