About The Position

To accumulate, investigate and provide accurate, timely patient insurance information to the Hospital billing office(s), Professional billing office(s) and Transplant offices prior to evaluative process and admission for organ transplant. To handle and investigate all transplant bills relating to Kidney Acquisition Fund and other outside sources. Will interact and communicate largely with the hospital and professional billing personnel as well as the Transplant Programs’ Clinical Coordinators. The Transplant Financial Coordinator will also work with patients and their families in a compassionate and tactful manner, prior to, during and following transplant to allow for the continuity of care. To obtain prior authorizations for all phases of transplantation Interview prospective transplant patients to explain patients insurance coverage Provide advice and financial counseling to uninsured and underinsured patients on corrective measures to obtain coverage Communicate financial findings to transplant team members Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the core values of the Hospital.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Minimum of three years health service experience in billing, reimbursement, or other related area
  • Experience with employee supervision and prioritization of workload
  • Strong clinical/medical cognizance
  • Strong communications and writing skills
  • Proficiency with IBM compatible computer applications, especially Word for Windows, Excel and Access

  • Bachelor's Degree, preferred.
